Abstract expressionism is a form of modern art that has drawn a lot of feedback. Famous artists such as Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, and Georgia O’ Keefe were all called abstract expressionists. This style of art transcends the boundaries placed by most other forms of art that had emerged in the past. It places emotion and self-expression above realism and figurative aesthetics and has created one of the most interesting artistic movements in generations. Many believe painted art to be intricately drawn images that show both drawing expertise and creativity however, the abstract expressionists broke these rules that were slowly becoming engrained in the minds of the masses.
